When is the Cheyenne Day of Giving?

The 12th Annual Cheyenne Day of Giving will be held on Friday May 12, 2017. While our event is celebrated annually, we assist our agencies by purchasing supplies for them throughout the year.

Black Hills Energy gave us a $1250 grant this year and invited the Executive Board to a check presentation for us. We had a chance to talk about Day of Giving with a wonderful group of employees, and they presented us with a 'big check.' It was a happy time and a big help to our year-round efforts to help
ten local agencies!

First Presbyterian Church Youth Group had a fundraiser on Super Bowl Sunday. They asked the congregation to pick their favorite team, Falcons or Patriots and 'vote' for that team by dropping their spare change in a basket labeled for the team. In just a few minutes after service, they raised almost $360 for Day of Giving. That's enough to buy 750 cans of green beans for Needs, 110 towels for the abused women and kids at Safehouse, or all the basic cookware and utensils to teach members at Boys & Girls Club how to make nutritious meals on a limited budget.

How can I give?

The entire community is invited to give in many ways:

  • Drop off non-perishable food, personal care items, and craft items to be sorted and donated to these local charities according to their wish lists: Boys & Girls Club of Cheyenne, Comea House, Home Away From Home, Family Promise of Cheyenne, Magic City Enterprises, Needs, St. Joseph's Food Pantry, Salvation Army, Safehouse Services, Unaccompanied Student Initiative, and Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless.
    • Donate food items such as pasta, peanut butter, cereal, boxed meals, and canned goods.

    • Donate personal care items such as regular and trial-size shampoo, conditioner, and lotion; razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste, bar soap, deodorant, and diapers.

    • Donate craft items such as scrapbooking supplies, stamps, ink, paper, markers, beads, and kits.

  • Make a cash donation to our year-round effort. Click on the Donate button on the left and the money you send will go directly towards helping purchase items for our agencies.

  • Drop off unused prescription medications for donation to the Wyoming Medication Donation Program.

  • Donate gently used durable medical equipment to Wyoming Independent Living for use by clients who need such items and cannot afford them on their own.
    • Donate gently used durable medical equipment to GoodHealthwill for use by clients who need such items and cannot afford them on their own.
    • Cannot accept large items such as hospital beds and chairs because of limited storage space.
    • Call Doug at Wyoming Independent Living, 637-5127, for more information.
  • Donate used prescription eyeglasses and hearing aids to the Lions Club.
